The acclaimed glass designer, Marc Konys, has created a new line of glass furniture pieces that are now being represented by Pace Collection of New York. Internationally recognized for its furniture offerings, the Pace Collection has been leading design industry trends since 1950. The new furniture line by Marc Konys was unveiled only last year at the 1999 Chicago Design Show and has already drawn serious attention from fine furniture merchants from around the world. This foray into the design world follows successful local exhibits at The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Riley Hawk Gallery, as well as international exhibits at The Entrée Libre Gallery in New York, New York, the Victoria Lia of (Fiam) in Milan, Itlay and Koln, Germany.
The works of Marc Konys Glass Design are a welcome addition to the Pace Gallery collection as an intermediary step between art and function. The pieces truly meld the worlds of art and interior design through the 3/4-inch cut glass meticulously bent and bonded in Konys' trademark style. The luminescent collection of tables and shelving pieces are testament to the designer's extraordinary talent and vision. Konys takes his inspiration from technical advances he has made with the medium, and offers a compelling glimpse at contemporary furniture design reflective of the new millennium.
The Marc Konys line includes four decidedly graceful alternatives to the traditional coffee table. Each design has the uncanny ability to enhance a home's existing artistic style or stand alone as a striking focal point in a finely appointed room. Similarly, Konys has created bold wall mounted pieces that have the potential to be much more intriguing than the items displayed upon them. Konys' works are quickly garnering praise as brilliant examples of contemporary design. Currently, the limited edition glass designs are available through the Pace Collection locations worldwide. Konys' works will also be exhibited again this year at the Chicago Design Show in November 2000.
Marc Kony's artistic imagination is fueled by his expertise in the science of manipulating the various elements of glass. Included in his portfolio are industrial design pieces for giants like NASA, General Electric and Hughes Aircraft. Marc Konys' preeminence in both glass design and craftsmanship arenas lends to his success as an accomplished furniture designer and artisan.
